Voices On Connecting
I have a relationship with a woman and her teenage daughter in Egypt. Now I feel as if I know the entire family and we remember birthdays, special holidays and more. I do feel differently about the country itself and the other families and daily life in this otherwise very foreign country.
Our class started it and now other schools are doing it, too. We don’t get to ask many questions because they are always asking us about what we do, what we wear and other stuff about our lives in the U.S.
Strange forming this relationship with someone who fears this country, as does his family. I try to tell him it’s just like there—that you don’t always agree with governments. But it still comes up.
Our employees know a virtual village in Syria and have their families involved. Every once in a while they want to speak to the “Boss”. Respect!
This the only way we can stop destroying our planet—get to know each other as people and get past our governments representation of who we are!
The first step was the hardest, Now I have great friends in 3 countries and have managed to get 6 other people involved. This is definitely a movement, a quiet revolution and one REALLY worth getting involved in! Better to push the buttons of a stranger’s heart than THE BUTTON we all fear.
Be prepared to answer a lot of questions. But I guess that’s the point. There is definitely a huge interest in the material differences.
I have seen Dr. Lauren—the founder—in action. This is so HER! Thanks Dr. Lauren! You’re my hero!
Why have governments or school boards or whatever not proposed something like this before. Dr. Lauren is an educator but obviously she can still think from a star! Get with it, schools!
I’M the ambassador in this house. The Bosnian people treat us as if we are Gods! I don’t get it!
I was injured in Korea. Now I’m communicating with the equivalent of legionnaires in the same country, my once enemies. Life never ceases to surprise and to provide ample compensation.
NOTE: Individuals were identified per their choice. The feedback list will be changed periodically to reflect and recording the enormity of the response to the Alliance chain of relationships.
